At Rustic Incline, every Lake Tahoe board is a one-of-a-kind tribute to the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada. We handcraft each piece in small batches right here in Incline Village, combining precision, care, and artistry from start to finish.
🌲 1. Choosing the Wood
We carefully select in person at local dealers premium hardwoods like Patagonian Rosewood, Walnut, and Maple—each chosen for its unique grain, durability, and rich natural tone. No two boards are the same.
🗺️ 2. Shaping the Iconic Lake
We use the true shoreline of Lake Tahoe as our guide, but each board is ultimately an artist’s rendition—capturing the lake’s iconic silhouette while allowing for natural flow in the wood grain and shape. It’s a blend of accuracy and artistry that makes each piece uniquely beautiful.
🌊 3. Adding the Resin (Optional)
We offer a variety of resin colors and styles—from deep blacks and vibrant blues to shimmering metallics and translucent tones. Each pour is done by hand, creating a unique “river” effect that adds depth and character to the board. No two resin flows are ever the same.
🪵 4. Sanding & Smoothing
We hand-sand every edge and surface to a smooth finish, paying close attention to the lake’s rugged curves. This makes the board both functional and beautiful as serveware or art.
🧴 5. Conditioning & Waxing
Each board is treated with food-safe mineral oil and sealed with our Rustic Incline Wood Wax (made from organic beeswax and mineral oil) to protect the wood and enhance its natural shine.
